In 2000, our father Allen passed after a short battle with cancer, leaving us as partners in the company he had passionately built for over 30 years. At 24 years old, Jonathan, with just a year under his belt at Renwil, recognized the strong headwinds we faced as a manufacturer competing with a growing number of importers, and jumped on a plane to China equipped only with an innate sense for design. Adventure awaited
Ryan, on the other hand, was 22 years old, acting full time on a TV show and performing stand-up
comedy nearly every night. He faced a big decision. Naturally, he jumped into a beat-up old station wagon with one of his co-stars and drove across the country from Montreal to Los Angeles. He was on a different kind of adventure: one that would eventually lead him back home.
Nearly 20 years later, Renwil has grown into something we could not be more proud of, a company born from our father's vision, but bearing our own mark. Surrounded by an amazing team, we have become a haven for like-minded creatives, and we continue to bridge the gap between the world of the imagination and the world of business.
Thank you for joining us on this journey and your support over the years.
"...thought in itself would never have thought it possible for the human being to swim, as it cannot deduce swimming from walking. For swimming to be possible, man must throw itself in water, and only then can thought consider swimming as possible."
- Henri-Louis Bergson from The Creative Evolution (1907)
